How to Multiply Fractions

There are 3 Simple Steps You Need To Take when Multiplying Fractions:

Follow these 3 easy steps to multiply fractions:

1  First, Multiply the numerators of each of the fractions.

2  Then, Multiply the denominators of each of the fractions

3  Lastly, make sure you simplify the fractions if the are not in the lowest terms.

Let’s demonstrate this with an example:

Multiply the fractions 2/3 x 1/6

Following the 3 steps above, we have:

2 / 3  x 1 / 6  =

2 x 1           2
_____  =   ___
3 x 6          18

= 2 / 18

This fraction can be broken down even further by finding the factors of 2 and 18, like  this:

2 x 1

____      =  1 / 9

2 x 9

The simplified answer would be  1 / 9
