When **dividing a fraction by a fraction** there are 4 things you need to do:

- Change the division sign to a multiplication sign
- Put the bottom number or denominator of the second fraction over the number on top of it.
- Then multiply the top number or numerators of the two fraction.
- After multiply the bottom numbers of the two fractions.

And that’s it.

For example:

**Divide the following fractions**

2 1

__ ÷ __ =

7 3

**Following the rules listed above:**

Change the division sign to a multiplication sign. You would get this result when you do so.

2 1

__ x __ =

7 3

Next, you put the bottom number of the second fraction over the top number of it. Like this:

2 3

__ x __ =

7 1

Then, you multiply the top numbers of the fractions together and put your answer to the right of the equal sign. Then you multiply the bottom numbers of the fractions together, and put your answer to the right of the equal sign as seen below.

2 3 6

__ x __ = __

7 1 7

The answer to the problems is

6

__

7

There you have it.

It’s as simple as that.
