You can Set Options for Saving Documents


Section 1: Setting Options for Saving Documents

 

To do so, left-click on the ‘File Tab’ on the ribbon. The backstage menu will appear on the screen.

Scroll down to the button ‘options’ and click on it.

The Word Options dialog box will appear on the screen (see the diagram below)

Left-Click the ‘Save’ button as seen in the diagram

 

1. Next, Click/Tick in the small box next to the words ‘Save AutoRecover information every’ – In the box just to the right of these words – You can change the timing for this command. See the diagram below. 

2. You can also select ‘keep the last autosaved version if I close without saving’.

3. You can also select ‘keep the last autosaved version if I close without saving’.

4. Click the ‘Ok’ button at the bottom after.

Section 2: To set where you want Word to save your documents by default.

 

Left-click on the ‘File Tab’ on the ribbon. The backstage menu will appear on the screen. See the diagram below.

Scroll down to the button ‘options’ and click on it.

The Word Options Dialog box will appear. Next, Click the Save button. 

 

The Screen below will appear.

Go to the section ‘Default file location’ and click on the ‘Browse’ button to the right of it.

The Modify Location dialog box will appear. As seen below.

Select the folder where you want Word to save your documents by default, and click the ‘Ok’ button at the bottom of the dialog box.

 

Section 3: To have word automatically save a backup of the document you are working on:

 

Click on the ‘File tab’ on the ribbon. The Backstage menu will appear.

 

Click on the ‘options’ button – The Word Options dialog box will appear.

 

Go to the button title ‘Advanced’ and Click on it. See the diagram below.

Next, Scroll down to the Save section and click on the small box to the left of the words ‘Always create backup copy’

Then, Click on the ‘Ok’ button at the button of the Word Options dialog box.
