The shading command, which is found under the ‘Home’ tab and ‘Paragraph’ group can color the background of any text or paragraph you have selected…It will also shade the background of text or a paragraph, where the cursor of your mouse is located. See the Diagram for more explanation.
1. Click the drop-down arrow next to the ‘Shading’ command
2. The ‘Shading’ gallery will appear on your screen with a list of colors for you to choose from. Click on the shading color you want. See below.
If you place the cursor of your mouse over any color in the Shading gallery, you will get a preview of what your text or paragraph would look like if you choose that color.
3. The Diagram below shows what my selected paragraph looks like when I applied the ‘Green Shading’ color.
