There are times when your data may be too long to fit into the column of your Worksheet; in such a case you will need to know how to change the width of the column to fit all your data.
To do this:
1. Click in the column whose width you want to change. You can click on any cell in this column.
2. Click the ‘Home’ tab
3. Under the ‘Cells’ Group – Click the ‘Format’ command – A drop-down dialog box will appear on your screen. See the following 2 diagrams.
4. Scroll down to the command ‘Column Width’ and click on it (see the diagram above). The Column dialog box will appear on your screen (see the diagram below).
5. Enter the size you want to change your column width to in the Column width text box. I have entered the size 22. See the diagram below.
6. Click ‘OK’
And Excel would have changed the column width for you.
P.S. Another way you can change the column width is to carry your mouse pointer to the right hand edge of the column whose width you want to change.
Your mouse pointer would change to a four-headed arrow.
When it does, hold down the left button of your computer mouse and drag it to the right until you are satisfied with the width you want to apply – then release the left button of your computer mouse.
