1. Select the text you want to put a border around
2. Under the ‘Home’ tab and ‘Paragraph’ Group – Click the small down arrow next to the Borders button – A drop-down box with a list of Border options will appear on your screen.
3. Click the ‘Borders and Shading’ command at the bottom of the list of Border options. The ‘Border and Shading’ dialog box will appear on your screen.

4. Under the ‘Borders’ tab select the border you want around your selected text. I selected the ‘Box’ border. Next, choose the kind of line Style you want for your border.
5. Choose the color you want for your border line. Choose the thickness you want for your border line.
6. Next, click the ‘OK’ button.

Word applies your commands to the selected paragraph, as seen in the diagram below.
Click outside of your selected text to continue working in Word.
